My Mk1 1800 Eunos S-Special Turbo (300bhp)

Postby andyturbo » Fri Oct 07, 2016 10:46 am

Not much good at doing build threads so i'll offer the abridged version.

I bought my first and only mx5 after moving house at the back end of the summer of 2014. Paid £780 for a clean, low mileage S-Special 1800 import from an ex Mazda employee on the wirral. The car was disappointingly slow, wobbly and a bit grubby but I saw potential in it's cheeky smile and the love affair began.

I've always been big into petrol but never had the time, space or money to build anything having flipped my way through about 35 cars up until this point. From my 205 days I recognised the beauty of a simple and well engineered chassis, lightweight body and small but eager engine (not to mention RWD - OH MY GOD!) so when the opportunity arose to buy a second car a Roadster was firmly in my cross-hairs. When I realised they could be turbocharged and tuned the hunt was on.

I did a lot of research and decided a mk1 import was for me and this came up, I'm embarrassed to say that i bought the first one that I saw although many many hours was spent on the internet before hand. Schoolboy error averted (thankfully) The car was standard albeit a pod filter and aftermarket radio.

So that's a bit of background now onto the before and after pics,
