Airbag error code 46

Postby nivara » Thu May 25, 2017 5:37 pm

Hello
I bought a MK2.5 2001 and found out afterwards the warning light was removed from the dash. It's an early Mk2.5 so no buzzer (or so i 've heard). The mechanic at the shop says its the seat sensor, so i ordered the emulator from autolinkmx5, but still get code 46...
Any ideas anyone?
Could it be early mk2.5 use different sensors from later ones?
When i disconnect the plug i get code 45 and 46.

Thanks in advance
Nick

Sorry this post makes no sence at all.

Do you have a code reader?

If you are running an old car it is not economic to get a garage to do fault reading.

Go on to ebay and buy one not over £15.

Plug it into the socket below the fusebox at your left leg with the ignition off.

I assume the car is lefthand drive

Swith the ignition on, do not start the car.

Then get the code reader to search for faults, the one you came up with is a turbocharger fault.

Your car does not have a turbocharger I assume

I have a Mk2.5 2001 so an early one. As I have Mk3 seats, I have fitted the Autolink emulator and it works perfectly. You must have a different problem. What is the code 46 error?

I get the code from the warning light flashes, 4 long, 6 short.
I ve been told that the early mk2.5 don't show airbag codes when you plug a reader, only through the warning light.
Lazza, my thoughts exactly, something else is wrong. I have no idea what error 46 means, been searching since I got the car, I have only found error tables for NA, NB and nbfl after 2002...
Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks
Nick

I did some googling and I can't see any mention a code 46 anywhere.

Hi,
I ve read the topic about code 47 and its the reason I got the emulator, as a test also to rule out the seat sensor.
I ve searched a lot too and found nothing about code 46, I guess I must go by trial and error.
Since 46 appears even when the seat is unplugged, maybe then it refers to something else. I 'll start unplugging other stuff, spraying some contact Cleaner and see what happens...
First the crash zone sensor in front, there used to be an intercooler there, so maybe something to be found.
Then the belt pretension, the airbag plugs...
I think that's all!
